Me (phoning home): Dude, I need to know so I can make it home without giving up. Tonight is Lewis forever, right? Sin: Uh, well it could be the Muppets. I bought it today. Me: ... There is not enough Gonzo in that movie for me to give up All The Lewis.

| Sydney Slashers Who! |
[May. 3rd, 2012|06:54 am] |
| [ | I'm feelin' |
| | awake | ] | Hey y'all! So April was, well, April. However! This Saturday is the Saturday of Doom, to certain values of Doom which include talking, cocktails and chicken schnitzel.
Same old, same old, 3 pm Sanctuary Hotel, bring a friend or a funny hat, it's pretty flexible.
I'm in. Sin's in Hawaii, so she won't be coming, how about the rest of you?

| Movies! The opposite of new release! |
[Mar. 30th, 2012|08:15 pm] |
| [ | I'm feelin' |
| | enthused | ] | Oh! Oh my oh my! They're showing old movies at Event cinemas, and for $28 there's drinks and canapes and movies like Casablanca and Rear Window and My Fair Lady and A Night At The Opera! Sadly I think I've missed the one showing of A Night At The Oper I stood any chance of getting to. However, I thought I'd put it out there and see if anyone else wants to go to any of these. It's called Masters of Hollywood.
I know some of you like the old musicals etc, so let me know if you're interested.
Or really we could have another movie night here. I do love me some Marx brothers. And I've been having a weird hankering to watch some Judy Garland movies.

| It's always past my bedtime |
[Mar. 27th, 2012|09:31 pm] |
| [ | I'm feelin' |
| | nerdy | ] | So tonight we ate ... tasty food that defies description for dinner and Sin and I sat around discussing the history of Regurgitator, what songs would make what songvids and headbanging. My hair still wins at that. Then we both retreated to our rooms to read Clint/Coulson fic.
You ain't lived if you haven't chairdanced in classy (to certain values of classy) pajamas to Black Bugs. So ner.
(Will still pay in worshipful adoration of whoever does a Battlestar vid to Polyester Girl, my worshipful adoration is worth something. Uh, if that link doesn't work because you're in some other imaginary place -like there's even life outside Australia! - try this.
Also, Kirk-vid to My Ego "Hello, welcome to my ego Wherever I go he goes Ain't it just so creepy Freaky-deaky oh no Now we're outta control Acting like an arsehole Welcome to the show!" Oh, the oompa-ness Although on looking there does seem to be a couple of anime vids to it. Ha!)
Sin just started laughing at me since the only line I sang along to was "Freaky-Deaky!"

| Imaginary World |
[Mar. 25th, 2012|08:26 pm] |
| [ | I'm feelin' |
| | Imaginary | ] | You know how there are things that work in TV/Movie/Book world, but don't really happen in real life. Like explosions or head injuries, or shoe closets. One of those things has always been Fridges. You know how people on tv would go to the fridge and there's food to eat there, like a chicken leg or a piece of pizza or ... well, something. In real life there's a good chance you open the fridge and either you've got a jar of mustard and a too old half a tomato, or you have food that requires making things or something.
I've always wanted the kind of fridge you could just reach in and get a chicken leg from, instead of the one where I open it up, stare at it blankly and figure, y'know, fine, I'll have the damn carrot, but you can't make me cook it.
I should mention here that Sin pointed out that people are always pulling apples out of their fridges and who on earth keeps their apples in the fridge.
Anyway, this morning I figured I had the stuff to make a BLT, if the tomatoes weren't too old and baby spinach totally counts as L. Then I looked around the fridge and realised that after a surprise roast chicken I made earlier this week... I could open my fridge and pull out a chicken leg.
Who has that fridge? I have that fridge.
That is how cool I am this week, people. I have the fridge that I can reach into and pull out some chicken. Rock.
I was wondering if having that fridge makes me a grown up or an imaginary person, and I have the lowering belief that it makes me an imaginary person.
(PS: But due to the presence of chicken in my fridge, I am an imaginary person who made herself a club sandwich for breakfast and it was AWESOME.)

| Sydney Slashers Who Just Sort of Hang Out, And Sometimes Eat Chinese |
[Mar. 6th, 2012|08:31 pm] |
| [ | Current Location |
| | Bed. | ] |
| [ | I'm feelin' |
| | My face is numb! Dental work! | ] | Hey again!
So there were some discussions with Hannah of Hnix fame, and there is a new plan. This is not instead of drinks at 3pm on Saturday the 10th at the Sanctuary Hotel with Cocktails and fabulous conversation, no!* We are still DEFINITELY DOING THAT.
It is as well as that! It is for Yum Cha at Marigold at 12 before that! There will be steamed pork buns and mysterious dumplings and stuff! However if you want to come along for conversation and dumplings and chinese greens (yum) you should let me know by Thursday night as bookings will need to happen. Whaddya say? Everyone is welcome, although it can be difficult to book a table for 3000, so maybe don't spread it too far on facebook or whatever it is kids do these days.
Be fabulous or be... fabulous elsewhere!
* Masterful and subtle plug there.

| Sydney Slashers Who! |
[Feb. 29th, 2012|06:25 am] |
| [ | I'm feelin' |
| | awake | ] | Hey again!
So this Saturday is the first Sat of the month, so it's time for Sydney Slashers Who again.
I was thinking, though, about maybe postponing it a week. Or, alternatively, having one this week and one next week. Hnix is gonna be visiting and it might be a good opportunity to get together for Saturday 10th.
Plus, I have a wedding in the afternoon of the 3rd, and while I was hoping to get into town for at least the cocktail portion of the SSW, and I don't think I'm a compulsary part of SSW, ... well, stuff. Although it might be nice to at least kinda celebrate the significant b'day of one of the SSW-ers....
Anyway, apparently I am unable to make decisions at present. What do you all think?
